Place de la Concorde

Place de la Concorde is the largest public square in Paris, located between the Champs-Élysées and the Tuileries Garden. The square was designed by architect Ange-Jacques Gabriel in the 18th century and played a significant role in French history, being the site of many notable executions during the French Revolution, including those of King Louis XVI and Queen Marie-Antoinette. Today, it is adorned with the Luxor Obelisk, a 3,300-year-old monument gifted by Egypt to France in the 19th century, as well as two monumental fountains—the Fontaine des Mers and Fontaine des Fleuves—designed by Jacques Ignace Hittorff.

Place de la Concorde is a popular tourist spot known for its elegant layout and historical importance. It also offers a splendid view of some of Paris's most iconic landmarks, including the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower, and the Louvre. The square is surrounded by notable buildings such as the Hôtel de Crillon and the Hôtel de la Marine, adding to its grandeur. During the winter season, Place de la Concorde is beautifully lit up and often hosts a large Ferris wheel, adding a festive atmosphere to this historic site.

Visitors can explore the area and its surroundings, which include the Champs-Élysées, the Tuileries Garden, and Rue de Rivoli. The nearby attractions make Place de la Concorde an essential part of any tour of Paris, offering insights into the city's history, art, and culture while providing a picturesque setting.
