winged horse monument

Some argue that this is not the best place for a sculpture of Pegasus, but the installation of this figure next to the monument to Yesenin is understandable: during the Silver Age of Russian poetry, next to this the place was a cafe called “Pegasus Stall”, a favorite place for progressive poets and writers, and it is enough to recall Yesenin's poem “The Boiling of Red Pegasus”. The winged horse is quite small, with its size and naive expression more like a foal. But he looks exactly at the poet, apparently personifying a pure muse and sublime inspiration.

Whatever ideas the creators of the sculpture pursue, many who have seen this monument are imbued with very warm feelings for it. Moreover, there is an opinion that if you take a picture with Pegasus, it will certainly bring good luck. Therefore, both the horse and the pedestal on which it is installed constantly shine, polished by the touch of many hands.
