Musée de l’Homme

The Musée de l’Homme is dedicated to exploring the history and evolution of humans and human societies, focusing on anthropology, biology, and cultural development. Inaugurated in 1938, the museum is housed in the Palais de Chaillot, and it offers a comprehensive journey through the origins and diversity of humanity. The museum features the Galerie de l'Homme, a permanent exhibition space that showcases over 1,800 objects related to the biological and cultural evolution of humans.

Visitors can explore topics such as the unity and diversity of human cultures, the commonalities shared by all human beings, and how humanity has evolved over millions of years. The museum's exhibits include a mix of artifacts, models, and multimedia displays to make the history of humankind accessible to all. Highlights include anatomical models, fossil remains of early humans, and the famous Envolée des Bustes installation, which illustrates the unity of the human species.

In addition to its permanent collection, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions and educational activities for all ages. The Musée de l'Homme also played a notable role during World War II as a center for the French Resistance. Today, it continues to engage in scientific research and education as part of the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle.
