Peter the Great Bridge (Bolsheokhtinsky)

This delay has benefited St. Petersburg, as we now have a beautiful, unique bridge in the Art Nouveau style. It is an adjustable structure whose spans can be lifted in as little as 30 seconds.

The bridge was solemnly laid on the day of the bicentennial of the Battle of Poltava in 1909, so it bears the name of Peter the Great, the triumphant of this battle. Bolsheokhtinsky is the Soviet name of the bridge, which appeared in 1956. The bridge underwent a major overhaul in the 1990s and has the most advanced design. One of the brightest artistic lights in the city has been decorating it since 2000. Despite the overhaul, the bridge is regularly selectively reconstructed. So in 2011, all parts of the bridge were completely painted.
