monument to Luzhkov janitor

Oddly enough, the profession of a janitor is very popular, and many city monuments are dedicated to it. The author of this sculpture is the famous Russian sculptor Zurab Tsereteli. In his opinion, the choice of an image for the ex-mayor is symbolic, because it is the janitor who is engaged in cleaning and landscaping the city.

The monument was erected in the early 2000s, but shortly after Luzhkov's resignation it was moved from the courtyard [of the Museum of Modern Art] (http://kudago.com/msk/place/mmoma/), where it originally stood, to [gallery Tsereteli Arts] (http://kudago.com/msk/place/rah/). The sculptor explains this not by political considerations, but simply by the fact that, while in the open air, the monument was covered with a green coating and needed a change of scenery.
