italian patio
In 2013, residents of houses on Italyanskaya Street decided to decorate their yard, making it more comfortable and lighter, and invited a talented artist to implement their plan. Thus, beautiful drawings appeared on the walls, reminiscent of the hot sun, romantic Venice, eternal Rome and classical Italian architecture, and the courtyard itself turned into a real work art and became an unofficial landmark of St. Petersburg.
The first thing that attracts the attention of visitors to this place is a huge graffiti depicting the Colosseum against the blue sky. Under it, surrounded by thickets of ivy, there is a small fountain, above which an amazing metal tree with scarlet flowers “grows”. When you come closer, you can see drawings of the Venetian canal with colorful houses escaping directly from the water. The windows of the houses located here are also painted: bright colors, Italian motifs, painted shutters by the windows — you can look at the details endlessly.
The territory of the courtyard is well-maintained and well-groomed. It has comfortable benches and a playground, and in summer everything is surrounded by greenery.
The gate leading to the landmark is usually closed. To get inside, you can either wait for the locals or call one of the organizations located in the yard — for example, [Check Point Cafe] (https://kudago.com/spb/place/check-point-cafe-sp/).
