Catherine Park

Catherine Park, the lush green space surrounding the Catherine Palace, is an integral part of the Tsarskoye Selo State Museum-Preserve. Spanning over 100 hectares, the park is divided into two parts: the Regular (Old) Garden and the English (Landscape) Garden. The Regular Garden is characterized by its formal layout, with symmetrical alleys, clipped hedges, and beautifully designed flowerbeds. Statues, pavilions, and ornamental bridges are scattered throughout the garden, enhancing its beauty.

The English Garden, on the other hand, is more naturalistic in design, with winding paths, groves of trees, and picturesque ponds. It was created in the 18th century during the reign of Catherine the Great and reflects the romantic style of English landscape gardening. One of the park's most notable features is the Great Pond, which is the largest body of water in the park. Visitors can enjoy boat rides on the pond during the summer months, taking in views of the surrounding greenery and the elegant marble and granite buildings on its banks.

Catherine Park is also home to several architectural landmarks, including the Grotto Pavilion, the Hermitage Pavilion, and the Admiralty Pavilion. These buildings add to the park's charm and historical significance, providing visitors with a sense of the grandeur of the Russian Imperial court. Whether you're interested in exploring the carefully curated gardens or simply looking for a peaceful retreat from the city, Catherine Park offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage.
