Khokhlovka art quarter
Khokhlovka is hidden in the yards and it is almost impossible to get here by accident. So first, let's explain how to get here. First you need to get to the Kitay-Gorod metro station, and then head for Zabelina Street and Solyanka Street. We go up to the Ivanovsky Monastery, bypass the Church of St. Vladimir in Starye Sadekh, a couple more steps and Khokhlovsky Lane will turn in front of us.
It will be easy to recognize it by painted trees, photo studios, unusual restaurants and an abundance of graffiti. When you look at all this, you get the impression that contemporary artists seem to be drawn to this place of creative freedom, they have been given free freedom to turn the historical quarter into an art object.
The history of this place is evidenced by the 17th century buildings that have survived to this day, pre-revolutionary buildings and vivid examples of Soviet housing construction. Motley in appearance, with curtains painted platbands, trees braided with colored ribbons, and numerous street art, the buildings have the appropriate content. These are coffee shops, coworking spaces, art workshops. Each establishment already has its regular visitors, because if you find yourself in Khokhlovka at least once, you can't be lured out of here.
