Tiergarten
Tiergarten, Berlin’s most famous park, spans 210 hectares and serves as a green oasis in the heart of the city. Originally designed as a hunting ground for the Electors of Brandenburg in the 16th century, it was transformed into a public park in the 18th century by Peter Joseph Lenné. The park is home to a variety of landscapes, including lakes, meadows, and wooded areas, making it a favorite spot for jogging, picnicking, and boating.
Key attractions within Tiergarten include the Berlin Zoo, one of the oldest and most renowned zoos in the world, the Victory Column, which offers panoramic views of the city, and several statues and memorials such as the Bismarck Memorial and the Soviet War Memorial. The park also hosts the annual Berlin Marathon and other cultural events.
Tiergarten’s central location and its historical and recreational significance make it an essential destination for visitors seeking both relaxation and exploration in Berlin.
