The Lieutenant Schmidt Embankment stretches from the Blagoveshchensky Bridge to the 22nd line of Vasilyevsky Island. It has been gradually built up since Peter the Great's times, and many pre-revolutionary buildings have been preserved here. The main feature of the development is that the houses go “Christmas tree”, repeating the smooth bend of the river.

The main charm of the Lieutenant Schmidt embankment is its lack of crowds and some intimacy. Here you will not meet crowds of tourists with guides, although the place is interesting and has its own atmosphere. There are no parapets on the waterfront, so you can walk at the very edge of the water or even sit with your legs hanging off the granite pavement.
