Forestry University Park

In ancient times, the Forest Engineering University Park was conceived as part of an “English farm”, but the land was never useful to anyone. Everything was very simple: the money allocated from the treasury to an Englishman for a farm of exemplary maintenance was spent on draining and putting in order local lands, but the debt was forgiven. Only gradually the territory of the park began to be landscaped, put in order, greenhouses were placed here, and practical lessons in geodesy came here. The trees of the park even witnessed a deadly duel. The Forest Institute was located on the territory: it moved here from Tsarskoye Selo.

The park was originally quite swampy, but it was gradually drained, new canals were dug. A tree nursery is also located here. The territory of the Park of the Forest Engineering Academy was once used to hide from bombs. Unfortunately, during the blockade, the green island of land was attacked especially often. And even earlier, in 1917, the Red Guards were buried here. There was a time in the history of the park when the Forest Institute did not have enough funding: it had to sell part of its land, it went to summer residents. The park even has a separate territory: this is the Botanical Garden. There is also a secret bunker on the land, which was the main reason for the bombing of this park.

Among the centuries-old pine trees, there is a huge park with paths for morning jogging, cozy lakeside spots for picnics or stargazing, as well as areas for the little ones. In winter, kids play on makeshift slides, and followers of a healthy lifestyle make ski trails. In summer, romantics go on a long journey along the paths.

Ringing birds, little ducks and squirrels complement the atmosphere, making travelers relax and merge with nature. The park has a botanical garden and a nursery of the Forestry Engineering University. However, it will not be easy to get there: the territory is carefully guarded.
