Opochininsky Garden

Opochininsky Garden is a relatively recently created garden, in 1937, on the site of a vacant lot. It was conceived as a small landscaped park. This green area, surrounded by rose bushes around the perimeter, is located on Vasilyevsky Island.

It has recently completed a major renovation. And in 2011, the Love Alley was founded, which begins at a heart-shaped metal tree. Newlyweds attach locks from their hearts to its branches, and put the keys into a fabulous forged chest, securely attached to the tree trunk. You can get to the Opochininsky Garden for free: everyone just needs to come to the Vasileostrovskaya metro station and continue walking through this small park.

It is noteworthy that every day there are more and more locks. During the summer months, the Love Alley is decorated with live plants and flowers, symbolizing the Garden of Eden for lovers who love to come here both in good and bad weather. In order to open this park to the public, a large amount of garbage was removed from it, and new trees were planted instead of old ones. The park has changed and has become a real magnet for the residents of Vasilyevsky Island. Apple trees, Hungarian lilacs and linden trees were used for landscaping the park. The name of the park was taken from the nearby street: Opochinina.

The garden is open all year round. The paths are tiled, so even in cloudy weather the park is dry. There are also several playgrounds with playgrounds. So, the park is perfectly adapted for families with children, young men and pensioners: those who just sit on a bench, and who will run on the lawns with excitement, someone will come to the park for a little relax from the bustle of the city. Lilacs and apple trees bloom in May, and you can come to the park at least to take pictures of blooming purple branches and white clouds of apple blossoms. At least for this it is worth walking through the spring park, it is also good in autumn, when the paths turn yellow from falling leaves.
