Lopukhinsky garden

At the beginning of the XVIII century, bloody battles between Russian and Swedish troops were in full swing here. The fortifications of our soldiers were located on the site of today's Lopukhinsky Garden. In 1705, it was possible to find trenches dug on these lands for defense. Already in 1717, the plot on which the Lopukhinsky Garden was located was given to Prince Matvey Petrovich Gagarin for a summer residence. The garden is almost six hectares.

Later, by order of Peter I, a pharmacy garden was established here for the cultivation of medicinal herbs and plants. Already at the end of the century, when Kamenny Island became the residence of Russian nobility, the site was given to Prince Lopukhin (the current Akademika Pavlov Street was named after him). At that time, the garden was known in the city primarily for the holidays that were invariably held under palm trees in one of the greenhouses, and, of course, for the most modern technologies that greeted the citizens. Festivals and concerts were held here, to which residents of St. Petersburg came with great joy. At the end of the 19th century, Lopukhinsky Garden was known as Gromov's dacha - St. Petersburg did not see the best estate and park at that time, so well landscaping was done.

The park has always been a place for citizens to relax. Only in the 90s of the last century, the Lopukhinsky Garden fell into disrepair and was abandoned. But after the reconstruction of 2015, it again pleases Petersburgers with well-groomed paths, clean ponds and an abundance of greenery.
