“Drinking bowl” fountain

Drinking fountains (yes, there were many) were built on the way from St. Petersburg to Tsarskoye Selo for horses.

The one on Sennaya was designed by architect Thomas de Thomon. It is made in the form of an antique stele made of gray and pink granite. Neptune's mask, dolphin and trident are carved on the stone. A stream of water spouts from the dolphin's mouth.

In the middle of the 20th century, the Drinking Water Fountain was transferred to the Museum of City Sculpture for preservation, and in 2003 it was installed on Sennaya Square.
