Peter I, the founder of St. Petersburg, also ordered the construction of buildings with a “solid facade” when planning the location of the houses. The emperor thought strategically: the land in the city is scarce, it will become more expensive, which means that it must be used efficiently and economically. Thus, not only palaces, temples and bridges, but also well-courtyards have become a landmark of the Northern Capital. For more than two centuries, these yards have also acquired their legends and myths.

One of them says that there is a well yard on Vasilyevsky Island that can fulfill your wish if you make it with all your heart and look at a small piece of sky in the alignment.
