Vega tenement house

Construction of the building began in 1914 by architect Sergei Osipovich Ovsyannikov, a graduate of the Academy of Arts, a figure in the art deco and Soviet times. The customer was the “chocolate king” R. G. Vega. The apartment building is made in an eclectic style, but it is based on neoclassicism. The architect skillfully assembled into a single composition a decorative colonnade framing the main entrance and figures of powerful Atlanteans.

The interior decoration is in no way inferior to the decorative decoration of the facade of the building, since the apartments of the house were to be filled by people from the aristocracy, celebrities and businessmen of that era.

The owner of the apartment building rented apartments to artists of the Mariinsky Theater, famous composers and artists. During the existence of the building, such personalities as S. S. Prokofiev, and I. E. Grabar', M. F. Stravinsky and other public figures. Scientist M. E. Lobashev — he lived in this house for almost 40 years.

Today, domestic directors shoot films in the courtyard of this beautiful historical building.
