Oldenburg dacha

The estate, which in historical documents is called Oldenburg's dacha or Dolgorukov's dacha, was built in 1831-1833 by architect Smaragd Shustov. The first owner of the estate was Prince Vasily Dolgorukov, who held a high position at the royal court. After some time, the estate was acquired by one of the prominent military and statesmen of Russia, Prince Peter of Oldenburg.

At its best, despite the wooden frame, the Oldenburg dacha looked quite prestigious: its central hall was crowned with a gently sloping two-tier dome, all three facades of the building were decorated with Doric columns, giving it a resemblance to ancient monuments. Floral ornament was used as a decoration.

With the advent of Soviet power, the Oldenburg dacha, like most of such buildings, was transferred to one of the city's housing and communal enterprises. It was decided to rebuild the building, which once hosted receptions with the participation of dignitaries and festive balls, into a residential apartment building. As a result of these barbaric works, the unique interior decoration was destroyed.
