The Royal Opera House

The Royal Opera House, located in Covent Garden, is one of London's most prestigious cultural venues. It is home to both The Royal Opera and The Royal Ballet, offering a rich program of opera and ballet performances throughout the year. Originally built in 1858, the current building is the third incarnation of the opera house and has been graced by legends such as Maria Callas, Margot Fonteyn, and Luciano Pavarotti.

The Royal Opera House underwent a major reconstruction in the 1990s, which introduced modern public spaces while retaining the historical grandeur of its main auditorium. Visitors can enjoy a variety of dining options, including the Amphitheatre Restaurant and the Paul Hamlyn Hall Champagne Bar, as well as guided tours that provide a behind-the-scenes look at the venue's storied history.

Performances at the Royal Opera House range from classic operas like 'La Traviata' and 'The Marriage of Figaro' to iconic ballets such as 'Swan Lake' and 'The Nutcracker.' The venue also hosts free lunchtime performances and special events like the Ballet Tea and Tour. The Royal Opera House shop offers a range of products inspired by the performances and artists.
