Parc Zoologique de Paris
The Parc Zoologique de Paris, also known as the Paris Zoo or Zoo de Vincennes, is located in the Bois de Vincennes in the 12th arrondissement of Paris. Originally opened in 1934, the zoo was completely renovated and reopened to the public in 2014, offering a more modern and immersive experience. The park is designed around five distinct biozones: Patagonia, Sahel-Sudan, Europe, Amazon-Guyana, and Madagascar, allowing visitors to travel across different ecosystems and observe animals in habitats that closely resemble their natural environments.
The zoo is home to over 3,000 animals representing 234 species, including iconic species such as giraffes, lions, jaguars, Humboldt penguins, and lemurs. Special attention is given to conservation, with nearly 50 species involved in European breeding or international conservation programs, such as the manatee, European otter, and fossa. The zoo is also known for its commitment to animal welfare and conservation, supporting various educational and research initiatives to raise awareness about biodiversity and the importance of protecting endangered species.
Visitors can explore not only the main animal habitats but also learn more about the zoo's behind-the-scenes activities, such as the veterinary clinic and animal kitchen. The zoo provides various amenities, including family-friendly educational workshops, feeding sessions, and themed guided tours. The scenic paths and animal enclosures make the Paris Zoo an engaging and informative attraction for all ages.
