Parc de Vincennes and Château de Vincennes

The Château de Vincennes, located just outside Paris, is a historical treasure that has served various roles over the centuries. Originally a hunting lodge for the Capetian kings in the 12th century, it later became a royal residence, and eventually a state prison. Its impressive fortifications and the 52-meter high keep, which is the tallest in Europe, stand as a testament to its importance in French history.

The château's highlights include the Sainte-Chapelle, built in the 14th century to house a fragment of the Crown of Thorns, and the keep, which served as a symbol of royal power. Today, visitors can explore these key features, including guided tours of the upper levels of the keep, which offer panoramic views of Vincennes and Paris. The château is also renowned for its dungeons, which have held notable prisoners like the Marquis de Sade and Mirabeau.

Adjacent to the château lies the Parc Floral de Paris, a large botanical garden and park that provides a beautiful natural escape. With its variety of seasonal flowers, themed gardens, and recreational activities, Parc Floral offers a perfect spot for family outings and leisurely strolls, providing a contrast to the imposing medieval structures of the château.
