The monument was erected in December 2008 by Vladimir Fedorovich Shukhov, the great-grandson of the great inventor Vladimir Grigorievich Shukhov.

In the center of the composition is a monument to a Soviet engineer. There are benches made of bronze not far from it. On the first are a hammer, a vice and other tools. The other, Bench of Sciences, is equipped with a variety of wheels and a gearbox — a symbol of the progress that Vladimir Shukhov contributed to.

Bas-relief structures are located a little further away. They depict various technological devices. The bronze “boards” contain an appeal to the citizens and a description of the merits of Vladimir Shukhov.

Vladimir Shukhov worked and lived at the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century. He built many facilities, including he, the author of the first Russian oil pipelines and an oil refinery with the first Russian oil cracking units. He came up with the idea of building hyperboloid structures.
