During the construction of the pedestrian structure, an old structure was used — the arch of the Andreevsky Bridge, on which there is a commemorative plaque. That is why many people call the Pushkin Bridge Andreevsky Bridge, although it was built almost 100 years earlier than the current crossing. The old name has been preserved in some reference books and encyclopedias.

The bridge was built in 1999, and it took 11 long months to move the arch from the Andreevsky Bridge. During the construction, navigation along the Moscow River was blocked for almost a week, and the towing itself took several hours. The main span of the bridge stretches for 135 meters. Since the riverbed is wider at this place than where the arch stood before, the Pushkin Bridge needed additional support.

At the moment, Pushkin Bridge is one of the most beautiful crossings in the capital and is an architectural monument.
