Bolshaya Nikitskaya, one of the oldest streets in Moscow, is associated with the name of Alexander Pushkin in many threads. “Palaces, gardens, monasteries”, - this is how the poet described this place. Since the sixteenth century, noble people began to settle here: the Nikitsky Monastery, whose church was visited by Alexander Sergeevich, was built in 1582 by the grandfather of Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich, boyar Nikita Romanovich Zakharyev-Yuryev. Now there is a metro substation on the site of the monastery.

In house number nine, which has survived to this day, although rebuilt, Pushkin visited Prince Alexander Dolgorukov's ball, as may have Prince Yusupov in house number thirty-six. The Church of the Ascension of the Lord in Watchmen, where the wedding of Alexander Pushkin and Natalia Goncharova took place, has also been preserved on Bolshaya Nikitskaya Street. The floor slabs on which the newlyweds stood are still intact, and many Moscow couples are trying to get married in this church.

A little further, at the corner of Bolshaya Nikitskaya and Skaryatinsky Lane, there was a large Goncharov estate, which the poet repeatedly visited. And in house number forty-two lived a “famous mortgager”, jewelry buyer N. A. Weyer. In the first year of his family life, Pushkin laid the jewelry of his wife to him.

Bolshaya Nikitskaya in the twenty-first century is the embodiment of respectability: mansions, embassies, business centers set a special rhythm of life taking place here.
