Patriarchal Bridge

The bridge, which connects Prechistenskaya and Bersenevskaya embankments, was built in 2004. A year later, the Moscow City Hall decided to name him Patriarchal in honor of Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia.

The authors of the project were architect Mikhail Posokhin, artist and sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, engineers Chemerinsky and Kolchin. This is an arched three-span structure, the length of which is 203 meters. The span is 105 meters wide and 12.5 meters high. Interestingly, the bridge was built in an original way: at the same time, farms were assembled on both banks of the river, which were then turned towards each other and connected.

In the appearance of the building, there is a stylization for the structures of the century before last. The closest fragment of the bridge to the temple is openwork, in the other part you can see white marble decoration, and elements of plants and flowers are visible on the fence. Lanterns also decorate the bridge during the day and illuminate it at night. In total, more than 200 lamps and about fifty LEDs were used.

The Patriarchal Bridge in Moscow is a popular place for photo shoots, and lovers and newlyweds often come here, so its fence is covered with locks that “consolidate” relations.
