Gorka Park

In Soviet times, a school building was located on the site of the current park. With the outbreak of World War II, it was converted into a military hospital, and when peacetime came, the building retained its medical purpose. A polyclinic was located on its first floors, and a hospital was located above. trees were planted to create a small park for patients to walk in.

In the early 1990s, the dilapidated hospital was demolished. a park and a recreation area, which were sorely lacking in the area of close historical development.As a result, until 2013, a wasteland was located on the site of the disputed territory, which was used as a parking lot.

However, as a result, municipal deputies supported the proposal of residents to create a park, and sketches rest was drawn by the participants of the initiative group. in the park began in 2016, and in July 2017 the new recreation area was officially opened. At the suggestion of local residents, the park was named Gorka, after the traditional household name for this part of the district.

Park "Gorka" is small (only 2.7 hectares), but thanks to the ingenious planning of the hilly area, amenities for all categories of vacationers are located here. The park territory is located on three levels, which are divided into seven thematic zones. In the course of landscaping, nearby gates were cleared and convenient passages were made to neighboring streets, as well as from one area of the park to another. The walkways are equipped with wide staircases and illuminated.

On the lower tier of the park there is a small square with a fountain and flower beds, recreation areas with benches, and aside there is a basketball court and horizontal bars for workouts. The second tier is a green area with trees, some of which have been preserved since the time of the hospital garden, a playground and a sports ground with outdoor exercise equipment. On the upper tier there is a view balcony with a panoramic view and a hill with a gazebo. In winter, a sledding hill is poured here.

Unusual simulators and elements for games are installed on the playgrounds: a “climbing web” in the form of a space flying saucer, a slider and original swings. The appearance of space motifs is associated with the name of the famous science fiction writer Ivan Efremov, who lived in one of the neighboring houses. There is also a historical landmark here: a fragment of an 18th-century wall, which was excavated during the reconstruction of the park. It was placed under glass and turned into part of a park installation. Also on the territory of the park is a monument to Osip Mandelstam and the Wailing Wall (due to the proximity to the choral synagogue).

Already in 2017-2018, the park received many awards, including "Beautified Environment" and "Best Landscape Design". Now "Gorka" is a popular vacation spot for the townspeople. Here they ride skateboards and play basketball, hold holidays and concerts. Next to the park there are cafes where you can eat while walking.
