This monument is made of bronze in the form of a large rocket that turns into an open palm, on which a figurine of a dog is installed. The little fearless pooch looks openly and proudly at the world, without even knowing what a terrible fate awaits her.

It was known in advance that Laika would not return from flight alive, if only because at that time they had not yet developed a satellite landing technology that would survive the passenger in it. Laika was supposed to spend a week in orbit, but the dog died from overheating a couple of hours after takeoff. Details of Laika's flight and her death were carefully hidden, and officially reported that the dog had to be put to sleep after landing.
