The creator of the monument is the famous Russian sculptor Alexander Rukavishnikov, who has created a number of Moscow monuments during his creative history. The sculptural composition depicts Sergei Mikhalkov as he, immersed in his own thoughts, sits on a bench, clutching the famous cane in one hand, and leaning on his back with the other benches. The monument is erected on a granite pedestal.

Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke at the opening ceremony, noting Mikhalkov's huge contribution to the culture of our country, his patriotism and love for the Motherland.
