Monument to Pyotr Stolypin

In Soviet times, two monuments to Stolypin were known - the “Stolypin car”, in which prisoners were transported and the “Stolypin tie” - a noose - for a person sentenced to death. But time puts everything in its place.

Pavel Stolypin is a politician, reformer who suppressed the revolution of 1905, survived 10 attempts and died at the hands of a double agent. His agrarian reform made it possible to stop the Chinese “quiet expansion” in the Far East and at the same time formed strong peasant breadwinners throughout the country, almost completely then exterminated by the Soviet power...

The monument to Pyotr Stolypin was planned to be opened by the 150th anniversary of Pyotr Arkadyevich, but there was not enough money. At a summer government meeting in 2011, Vladimir Putin proposed erecting a monument with personal donations and transferred his monthly salary to the monument's fund. The initiative was supported by ministers and residents of remote villages, as a result, by the end of 2011, 12 million rubles were collected. The creative competition was won by a team of authors: architect I. Voskresensky, sculptor S. Shcherbakov, artists N. Sidorov and K. Zubrilin. The result of their efforts was a bronze monument 4.6 meters high, located near the Government House.

Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev were the first to lay flowers at the foot of the monument, for whom Stolypin's quote “Give the state 20 years of peace, internal and external, and you will not recognize today's Russia” was a kind of strategic program.
