“Moscow — Petushki” monument

Venichka Erofeev's work “Moscow — Petushki” became a masterpiece of prose of the Soviet period. For a long time, this thing was not published, and it could only be read in samizdat, and today the poem “Moscow — Petushki” has thundered all over the world, translated into many languages, performances and even made a movie.

The idea of creating a monument dedicated to the legendary work and its author arose in connection with the approaching 60th anniversary of Erofeev. The composition consists of two sculptures: Venichka himself and his red-haired lover living in Petushki “with a scythe to the priest”. The authors of the monument, sculptors Sergey Mantserev and Valery Kuznetsov, worked on it for more than two years. Initially, the sculptures of the main characters were installed in Moscow at the [Kursky railway station] (http://kudago.com/msk/place/kurskij-vokzal/) (Venichka) and in Petushki (his girlfriend), but later they were decided to unite them and move it to the square located on the Struggle Square.
