Merchant Nosov's mansion

In 1903, architect Kekushev built a mansion for the Old Believer merchant family of Nosovs. The building was made in the style of Russian Art Nouveau. After the revolution, the building was handed over to the people: a kindergarten was located here, and then a hostel and other institutions took its place.

Today, the mansion remains a national treasure. It houses a historical and cultural complex. Everyone who is interested in the history of Russian entrepreneurship, the culture of the Silver Age and, in particular, the Art Nouveau artistic style is welcome here. The permanent exhibition tells visitors about the former owners of the mansion — the merchants of the Nosovs — and the architect who built the building.

Film screenings, music and literary evenings, chamber concerts, art exhibitions, and master classes are organized for guests. The mansion also houses the Music and Music Department of the Russian State Library for Youth. Its music library has almost 40,000 copies published in the second half of the 20th century. It stores 70,000 vinyl records and about 1,000 CDs. 6,500 reference books, textbooks, manuals, scientific and popular publications on music have been collected for students and schoolchildren.
