The museum was founded by Fedor Konyukhov, one of the most famous extreme travelers in the world. His list of achievements includes conquering the highest mountain peaks of seven continents (including Everest), five round-the-world voyages, crossing the Atlantic and Pacific oceans on a rowboat, a solo trip to the South and North Poles, a solo round-the-world balloon flight, as well as many world records. In addition, Konyukhov is a famous graphic artist and sculptor (member of the Academy of Arts of the Russian Federation), author of 18 travel books, and an active defender of wildlife. Since 2010, he has the rank of Orthodox priest.

The picturesque mini-estate attracts the attention of passers-by from afar. On its territory there is a chapel of the patron saint of travelers, St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, built in memory of the dead sailors. The walls of the house itself are covered with memorial plaques describing the achievements of Russian travelers. The memory of researchers and discoverers of different eras is immortalized here: Laptev, Semenov-Tien-Shansky, Miklukho-Maclay, Przhevalsky, Roerich, polar explorers Sedov and Morozov, the legendary pilot Chkalov. There are also memorial plaques dedicated to the memory of fallen climbers and astronauts.

The museum's sculptural exposition is no less extensive. On both sides of the entrance to the main building there are monuments to St. Sergius of Radonezh and John III the Great. Along the perimeter, you can see a sculpture by Semyon Dezhnev, busts of Yermak, Admiral Nakhimov and other pioneer heroes. There is a large exhibition of ship anchors of various shapes and sizes in the courtyard. Rynda bells, anchor chains, steering wheels, climbing ice axes give the courtyard a special romance.

Inside the building there is a creative workshop of Fedor Konyukhov, a gallery of his artworks and collections of artifacts collected during his campaigns. Here you can also see the Turgoyak boat, on which Konyukhov crossed the Pacific Ocean. At the museum, you can buy books by the legendary traveler.

Admission to the museum is free, but charitable donations are welcome.
