Mercury City skyscraper

In 2005, construction of a high-rise building began on the territory of the Moscow International Business Center “Moscow City” under one of the most ambitious projects. Mercury City Tower is the result of the joint painstaking work of American architect Frank Williams and our compatriot Mikhail Posokhin.

Mikhail Posokhin is an Honored Architect of the Russian Federation, winner of numerous awards for his contribution to modern architecture. Much of what can be seen in the capital, from the Victory Monument on Poklonnaya Hill to the Olimpiyskiy sports complex, was created or reconstructed with his direct participation. Frank Williams is a well-known architect from the United States, a specialist in high-rise construction.

The construction of the Mercury City building was completed in July 2014, but at that time this “tower” was no longer the tallest - it gave way to the Oko skyscraper from the same complex. But the previous champion, the London giant The Shard, Mercury overtook by as much as 33 meters. The building has 75 floors, some of which are reserved for A+ class office space and a restaurant, and the other part for luxury residential apartments. Another 5 floors are located underground, which house a parking lot for 437 cars, retail premises and equipment for servicing the skyscraper.

Not everyone can afford to buy a house here or rent an office, which is why the skyscraper is popularly nicknamed the “Golden Tower”. Among the happy owners of the apartments is the famous TV presenter Ivan Urgant, and the largest tenant is Norilsk Nickel, which rents 6 floors in the office center.
