Moscow City Government (Mossovet)

The Moscow City Council was finally formed in the early 1930s, although according to some sources its history began in 1905, when a meeting of party representatives was held Bolsheviks, Mensheviks and Social Revolutionaries. The Moscow City Council made all important decisions regarding Moscow, its development and internal structures, economic activity and other issues. During the Great Patriotic War, representatives of the council supervised the work of defense enterprises and were engaged in combat reserves.

The Mossovet building is located in the very center of Moscow, on [Tverskaya Street] (http://kudago.com/msk/place/ulica-tverskaya/). Initially, this house was the palace of the Moscow Governor-General. The building was built at the end of the 18th century by architect M. F. Kazakov and belonged to Count Z. Chernyshev. Ten years after its construction, the house was transferred to the Russian treasury. In the 1930s, the area was actively developed with new high-rise buildings, which could completely obscure the building of the former palace. To avoid this, it was moved and two floors were added, while maintaining the building's classic style. Today, the Moscow City Government building attracts attention with its red and white walls and elegant columns that adorn the front facade. On the pediment there is a gilded coat of arms of Moscow.
