Cosmos Pavilion at VDNKh

In the USSR, it was in the Cosmos pavilion that advanced agricultural technologies and the latest space technology were demonstrated. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the exposition was forgotten, partially collapsed and left in the same place, under a large dome.

For many years, part of the pavilion functioned as an exhibition space, and part was still abandoned. On the middle tier of the dome, one could find broken glass, pieces of plywood and industrial waste.

Restoration work began here in 2016, during which the glass dome smalt, the appearance of the building, as well as a unique ruby glass chandelier lost in the 1970s .

Today, the pavilion houses the Cosmonautics and Aviation exhibition center, and one of its largest exhibits is the model of the Kristall module of the orbital station 'Mir', which weighs more than 30 tons.

The large-scale exposition consists of three sections, which are presented as models and real spacecraft. The exposition introduces modern space research, the latest scientific discoveries and futurist forecasts. There are also gaming simulators and a 5D cinema.
