[Moscow University] (http://kudago.com/msk/place/mgu/) was founded in 1755 by order of Elizaveta Petrovna. At the end of the 18th century, **Church of the Martyr Tatiana** was consecrated here, whose memorial day is the birthday of the university and the All-Russian Student Day. During the fire of 1812, the temple was destroyed, and in the early 1830s, the university acquired the Pashkovs' estate, where a new church was built. The interior of the temple included valuable icons and church utensils.

In the first years after the October Revolution, the church was closed and the reading room of the Faculty of Law was placed in its premises. The inscription “The Light of Christ Enlightens Everyone”, laid out on the pediment of the wing, was replaced by the pretentious appeal “Science for Workers”, which was also later removed. In the mid-50s, the Student [Theater] (http://kudago.com/msk/theater/) of Moscow State University opened here, the first head of which was Rolan Bykov.

In the early 90s, a prayer service was served in the building where the theater was still located for the first time in many years.
