Today's man in the street, accustomed to eternal long-term construction, the speed with which the idea of architects Mordvinov, Oltarzhevsky, Kalish and engineer Krasilnikov was implemented is simply amazing. The giant 34-storey building, opening Kutuzovsky Prospekt, was built in just four years — from 1953 to 1957.

The hotel was considered very prestigious and specialized in serving foreigners. In 1964, a monument to the great Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko was erected in front of it. The sculpture was 10 m high.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the hotel was in a state of reconstruction and restoration for a long time. On April 28, 2010, after the completion of all work, the Ukraina Hotel appeared before its completely updated by visitors. Now it is one of the best hotels in Moscow called Radisson Moscow.
