This house stands out from other buildings for its architecture and white stucco decorations against the red walls. The building was built at the beginning of the XVIII century for the captain of the Preobrazhensky Regiment Rzhevsky In the following years, merchant Zhuravlev became the owner of the house. After acquiring the estate, he began to expand it, building a number of utility rooms on the territory adjacent to the main building for storing goods and other industrial needs. Today, the one-story building with a basement located on the left side of the main building has been preserved. At the end of the 18th century, a third floor was added to the main house. From the middle of the 19th to the beginning of the 20th century, the owners of the estate were the merchant family Grachev. During the years of their ownership, the facade of the estate changed slightly: platbands and stucco decorations were added to match the neo-Baroque style.

This estate became widely known at the beginning of the last century, when mathematics teacher Kasitsyn initiated the reconstruction of the house, carried out by the famous architect V. Sherwood, and housed a men's high school there. In the Soviet era, it housed a school, a medical school, and later a kindergarten. Now the building houses the Foundation for Slavic Literature and Culture.
