In recent decades, sculptures and fountains by our contemporaries have begun to appear in the squares and parks of Moscow, which makes the views of the city more attractive in aesthetic terms. The Singing Crane fountain in the public garden on Chistoprudny Boulevard is no exception.

The fountain bowl was deliberately given an irregular geometric shape to resemble a natural body of water. Seven transparent jets beat among the boulders, and the crane selflessly sings its song.

The author of The Singing Crane is Alexander Mikhailovich Belashov, a famous animal sculptor, Honored Artist of Russia, full member of the Russian Academy of Arts. According to him, the image of the crane is designed to remind of the beauty and fragility of the surrounding world.

Muscovites can admire the fountain only in summer. With the end of the warm season, when fountains throughout the city turn off for the winter, the crane sculpture is dismantled and put in storage until spring. The reason for this is the actions of vandals who have repeatedly encroached on a beautiful work of art.
