The festival park is also called Maryina Roshcha Children's Park. Back in the 17th century, a cemetery for poor people and gentiles was located in its place, and a hundred years later, wealthy noble people were buried in the graveyard, by that time called Lazarevsky. Gradually, the necropolis fell into disrepair, and in 1936, the Dzerzhinsky Children's Park was founded here. In the mid-80s, the park was reconstructed, expanded, and its name was changed to Festivalny.

In 2000, a large-scale reconstruction of the park itself was carried out, the buildings located there were improved, as a result of which the Festival Park turned into a modern center for children's physical education and sports. Currently, it has about thirty sports sections: football, tennis, basketball, martial arts and others. In winter, the park offers skiing on a specially designed ski track, and during the summer holidays, a health camp opens here. Various Russian and international sports competitions are often held at Festivalny.
