Until the beginning of the 15th century, the park housed a beautiful chain of various ponds: all of them belonged to the Neglininsky ponds, most of which have not survived today. In the 16th century, Holy Cross Monastery was moved here, and a little later the Church of John the Warrior was built.

Two centuries later, a manor house appeared here, which in 1807 was rebuilt into the construction of the Catherine Institute — hence the name of this beautiful place.

The park is small but very picturesque. In winter, a circular ski track is laid on the ice of the pond (which, by the way, is called nothing more than Naprudny or Bolshoy Ekaterininsky). In summer, it is a place for boating. There is a pavilion in Catherine Park, which Catherine II visited. This is a favorite place for photo shoots on wedding days, and it is common to meet brides in dazzling white dresses in the park in summer.

The park has attractions, sports equipment rental, and numerous playgrounds with exercise equipment, including for people with disabilities. There are tents on the territory where you can buy ice cream, boiled corn, sweet nuts. Children may also love the military equipment located next to the park. Those who come to the performance at the Theater of the Russian Army should take a walk in the park before returning home. From the park, you can easily walk to the Olimpiysky Sports Complex.

In winter, Catherine Park in Moscow is invited to ride on the ice rink and admire the evening illumination.
