This apartment building appeared at the beginning of the 20th century, at the request of a passionate admirer of Pertsov's art. Pertsov wanted to build a house that would house residential apartments, as well as workshops for artists. The engineer also wanted the building itself to be a work of art, the appearance of which would indicate the originality of Russian culture. Pertsov designed the plot and the house for his wife Zinaida Alekseevna, so the building is known by her name.

The building has many complex elements, but all of them are organically combined with each other. This unity of bizarre forms into a plastic whole is characteristic of the Art Nouveau style. By the way, sketches for the house were prepared by none other than Sergey Malyutin, the creator of the world-famous Russian matryoshka doll.

Traditional Russian motifs were used in the design of the facade and other parts of the house — terraced balconies, magical animals and plants, and some traditional patterns.

In 1908 - 1910, the building housed the Fledermaus cabaret, whose visitors could see Nemirovich-Danchenko, Knipper-Chekhov, Kachalov and Stanislavsky himself in various traditional such an institution of a role — they staged circus performances, tricks, jokes and asked their viewers not to be offended in any case.

Since the mid-1970s, Pertsova's house has been used by the Main Directorate for Servicing the Diplomatic Corps under the Russian Foreign Ministry The building was converted into offices, and a dining room was organized in the basements.
