In the ancient Zamoskvorechye district of Moscow, there is an ordinary residential high-rise building, in which unusual events took place. The hapless inventor of the time machine lived here, who managed to move Tsar Ivan Vasilyevich from the 16th century to the 20th century, right to this house, to his apartment. This historic place is located at 13 Novokuznetskaya Street. Most of the scenes of Leonid Gaidai's film “Ivan Vasilyevich Changes His Profession” were shot here.

At the time of filming, the house was ultra-modern, newly built, ten-story, in a constructivism style, which, of course, was not heard of in medieval Moscow with its palaces and temples. All this was supposed to create an additional contrast between the two eras. Most of all, the tsar liked the panorama of modern Moscow, which he watches from the balcony of a high-rise building. It should be noted that not all shots of this type were taken from an apartment on Novokuznetskaya Street, some from a high-rise building on Kalininsky Prospekt. Now the house also looks good, although instead of an electrical store, where Shurik tried to buy parts for a broken time machine, now there is a supermarket.
