house of merchant P.Z. Yeletsky
The building with very interesting architecture in Golovin Lane was rented in 1881-1885 by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov's family. This building was two-story in those years, one of the floors was semi-basement, and it was rented by the Chekhov family. Only when A. P. Chekhov graduated from the institute and moved to the second floor. This house remembers a young doctor hanging a sign here with his name on it. “I give small musical evenings where they sing and play,” says Chekhov's memoirs about this house.
The building is especially beautiful in the evening, when the lights are turned on — it turns very warm, orange in color. The facade is original: a small turret with amazingly beautiful columns at the height of the second floor is a very interesting solution. Moreover, there is also a residential floor under the turret.
There is a small fountain in the courtyard of the building, which is illuminated with several colors, the grille on the fence of the building looks like a plant stem.
