East Side Gallery
The East Side Gallery is the longest remaining section of the Berlin Wall, now serving as an open-air gallery featuring over 100 murals by artists from around the world. This 1.3-kilometer stretch along the River Spree was transformed into a symbol of freedom and reconciliation after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. The murals reflect themes of peace, freedom, and the political changes of the late 20th century.
Visitors can walk along the East Side Gallery and view famous artworks such as 'The Fraternal Kiss' by Dmitri Vrubel and 'Trabant Breaking Through the Wall' by Birgit Kinder. The gallery stands as a poignant reminder of Berlin's divided past and its journey towards unity. The murals are regularly restored to preserve their vibrant colors and powerful messages.
The East Side Gallery is located in the Friedrichshain district, easily accessible by public transport. It attracts millions of visitors each year, making it one of Berlin's most visited landmarks.
