The history of this amazing architectural masterpiece began as follows. At the beginning of the 1920s, merchant Ustinov decided to build an apartment house on an empty place. Architect Joseph Charlemagne was given a seemingly impossible task: to build a residential building in the center of the courtyard well so that it does not block the sunlight to neighboring houses, own residents isolated courtyard and at the same time it was comfortable and beautiful.

The architect chose the oldest form of human dwelling, first created in the Stone Age — a round house.

In the interior design, the author of the project foresaw ideas of constructivism that will become popular in Europe in a hundred years: a corridor with radially diverging rooms runs along the radius of the ring from the inside. The house also has two main entrances for four apartments.

The main four-story building was highlighted with women's masks above the windows. Immediately after the house was rented out, A. S. Pushkina. By the way, the family of the great Russian poet did not have a high income and was quite satisfied with modest living conditions.

The courtyard of the round house is decorated with two arches, located opposite each other, and is paved with wide paving slabs. The layout of the apartments in the ring house by today's standards leaves much to be desired - they are all without exception passable, so people living here simply never had the opportunity to retire.

Nowadays, the ring house has been relocated, and its premises are rented out for small offices.
