At the very end of 1993, a fire broke out and the synagogue building burned to the ground. But the Torah Scrolls survived this fire — this miracle was taken by the parishioners as a blessing. A temporary synagogue building was built next to the ashes, small but cozy, with beautiful stained glass windows. Today it houses the spiritual center of the Moscow community of Bukhara Jews.

Today, a modern seven-story building of the Moscow Jewish Community Center has been built on the site of the burnt down synagogue. The building was designed by Israel Godovich, the chief architect of Tel Aviv. The facade is decorated with Jerusalem stone. The Base Menachem Synagogue itself (named after the Seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem-Mendl Schneerson) is located on the second floor of the center. Its building, as tradition dictates, is Jerusalem oriented.
