Funny palace

The Funny Palace was built specifically for boyar Ilya Miloslavsky. The place for its location was chosen next to the Kremlin wall, exactly in the middle between two towers — Komendantskaya and Troitskaya. This is the only example of boyar housing architecture on the territory of the Kremlin that we can see in our time.

The palace complex consists of stone choruses with three floors and adjacent outbuildings. It has a nice deep basement, it has its own indoor garden and even its own church. The royal father-in-law himself lived here for a relatively short time, about 16 years, and after his death, the mansions were converted and decorated in a theatrical style. It was here that various “fun” were organized, which served as entertainment for members of the royal family. This is how the complex got its current name.
