Mykolaiv Railway Circular Depot

The circular depot is a cultural heritage monument. The building is designed in an eclectic style with an emphasis on elements of late classicism. It was built in the period from 1842 to 1847 by architects Konstantin Ton and Rudolf Zhelyazevich. The project was based on the scheme for the construction of a round depot, which was common at that time in America.

The advantages of such a round structure are its compactness, the protection of a special turntable from weather conditions and savings in the use and maintenance of equipment.

Unfortunately, at present, most of the historical appearance of the depot has been lost. By 2013, 9 out of 22 sections of the round building had been dismantled. Later, it was reconstructed, and after the completion of the work in 2018, a flower fair was held in the depot. In 2019, the Depo Book Club was opened here, but now it is no longer open.
