Church of the Little Ascension

This church was built in the 16th century and is dedicated to the wedding of Tsar Fyodor Ivanovich to the kingdom. There was a settlement here, where you could often meet residents of Ustyug and Novgorod. As usual, it was originally built of wood, and only in 1634 the tree changed stone.

The appearance of the building changed - something was constantly attached to it: first, the one-headed limit of Procopius and John of Ustyuzhensky appeared, then it was the turn of the chapel of John the Baptist, and in the 19th century it appeared from the west new extension. And the arched gallery from the same time.

During the turbulent and turbulent times of the revolution, the bells of the church were melted down. In 1930, crosses were removed from it, and the interior decoration was redone. Later, Irina Starzhenetskaya and Ivan Glazunov undertook the restoration of the shrine. Since 1992, services have been held here.
